Fashion Photography

Heya..

So It's been a while since I have posted on here, but this blog is for me and when I feel like it and recently I just haven't felt like it. However, waking up to a glorious spring day gave me some energy to do something I've been meaning to do for a while, Fashion Photography.

I recently went to the Photographer's Gallery in Soho, just off oxford Street and saw the works of Saul Leiter, a film photographer who photographed throughout the 60s and early 70s. I loved his use of colour, which was rather revolutionary in his day. Leiter photographs through windows in many of his shots, which give his images a beautiful soft focus. Inspired by Leiter's fashion photography for Harper's Bizzare in the late 60s, I decided to experiment myself. Here are my favourite shots.

Resolutions

Heya...

So you all have probably read the title and thought 'Oh God not yet another list of pointless goals someone has decided to follow'. Although the new year has already been going for 10 days, I've been thinking about resolutions and what they mean to me.

New Year's resolutions are usually to do with getting fitter or eating better or maybe even something academic? But let's be honest, none of them last long. The truth is, in my opinion,  that none of that matters. No really, it doesn't.

For me, just being happy is good enough, better still making someone else smile for some reason or another. The more cynical of you will now be thinking how lame that sounds but if you really think about it being happy is different for everyone. So my resolution is to do something to make myself happy and do something to make someone else happy everyday. I hope u guys can do the same.

:)

NYC

Heya...

I've taken a break from blogging for a crazy long time but I now feel ready to start again, hopefully more often and with far more photography for you all to feast your eyes on! I love these autumnal months we are in and I couldn't think of a better place to enjoy them than a few days in NYC, which I have just returned from. The crisp mornings and gorgeous leaves turning in central park were enchanting, making dressing for autumn all the more exciting. Here are a couple of looks I wore when I was there.

Wondering around in Centeral Park, on my way to the met.

Scarf - Urban Outfitters
Faux fur coat - Vintage
Jeans - Rag and Bone
Black Boots - Doc Martens
Sunnies - Rayban

Grabbing Lunch in Bryant Park with a friend in the sunshine.

Rings - Henri Bendel
Watch - Casio
Black Top - Brandi Melville
Necklace  - Dodo Jewellery Milan
Hat - Forever 21
Jeans - Rag and Bone

I loved being able to layer up on the more frosty mornings, wearing my scarf and vintage jacket however the last day was a beautiful sunny and warm one so a black turtleneck and felt hat were all that were needed to create an autumn look.

Here are a few snaps from NYC.

Holiday Style

Heya...

I have just got back from an exciting holiday in Vietnam! It was really quite amazing  and an incredible photography opportunity for me, as I love taking photos and there were so many interesting sights and quirky places to capture. It was also lovely to plan and enjoy wearing some summery outfits during the evening, so I though I would share my favourite ones with you guys.

Outfit 1- 60s Vibes

Top - Topshop
Skirt - Textile Federation at Urban Outfitters
Bag - Zadig et Voltaire
Black wedges - Office

I absolutely love this bright colourful skirt as it is just so summery and swishy as you walk around. I paired it with a white turtleneck to embrace the swinging 60s/boho 70s style then wore my black wedges and bag to keep the skirt the focus of the outfit. This is a perfect summer evening look but also great for daytime, just swap out the wedges for some flat sandals and you're good to go!

Outfit 2 - Summer Monochrome

Dress - Bershka
Sandals - Topshop
Headband - Topshop
Bag - Zadig et Voltaire
Earrings - Vintage

I have never been big into monochrome though I feel this dress is my solution to this trend I do my best to avoid! I hate the boring black and white clothes that don't express my style but with this dress, accessorised by the flowery headband and vintage earrings I feel far more myself. I wore my white sandals for a beachy vibe, but the leather bag gives it a modern edge,

Outfit 3 - Tropical Vibes

Top - Topshop
Button up cord skirt - Topshop

This skirt is probably one of my fave skirts for summer as it works with almost anything! The patterned top pairs well and creates a very beachy, summery and almost tropical vibe to this outfit which makes it great for a summer's day.

Outfit 4 - Boho Vibes

Top - Vintage
Skirt - Boohoo
Sandals - Topshop
Earring - Vintage

You may recognise this top from a previous outfit post but this time I went for a more boho look with a long grey maxi skirt. It's a lovely outfit for the evening and looks perfect with sandals and big hoop earrings.

I hope u are all enjoying Summer,

Vietnamese Style

Heya...

I hope you are all enjoying a lovely sumer holiday! I am currently sitting inside while the tropical rain of Vietnam pours down. Apparently it's the rainy season, though I don't seem to have got the memo as most of my clothes are shorts and t-shirts. However It is very hot and the local vietnamese people wear a variety of things to combat the high humidity. On our tour of Hanoi I saw two women dressed up in traditional Vietnamese clothing and thought I would share their almost oriental style with you!

The lovely flowered patterns are beautifully summery and the long flowing fabric keeps them cool. I probably wouldn't choose theses colours myself however they look so perfect, surrounded by the greenery of the many trees in the city.

Here are a few snaps from Hanoi:

I hope you enjoyed a taste of Vietnamese street style!

Summer Outfits

Heya...

Summertime weather is finally upon us and I have been loving it! It's been almost tropical here in London so outfits have consisted solely of skirts and shorts accompanied by a variety of summery tops in a multitude of bright colours and patterns. I don't know about you guys but when the sun is shining it makes me happy and I love wearing things to represent my mood. Therefore, I thought I would talk you through two outfits I have been loving recently, one daytime and another slightly more elegant one for the evening.

Daytime:

Halter neck Top - Beyond Retro
Button Up Cord Skirt - Topshop

I love this outfit as the halter neck is just so summery and the pattern is so cute. The button up cord skirt has been a wardrobe staple for me so far this summer, as it pairs with almost anything and makes any outfit that bit more interesting.

Evening:

Black Crochet Trim top - Urban Outfitters
Crochet Shorts - Pepe Jeans
Necklace - Urban Outfitters

This outfit is perfect for an evening occasion as it's sophisticated but fun and summery due to the crochet detailing which creates a boho summer vibe. When worn with black wedges it is the ultimate evening look, although also looks great with sliders if you are going to be dancing all night!

I hope you enjoyed these summer looks,

Vintage Brighton Trip

Heya...

Let's just begin with complaining about GCSEs, which is the reason why I haven't posted in SO long! They are finally over and I am oh so excited for the epic three month(ish) summer to begin. I had a lovely day on Saturday with some gorgeous friends and it was amazing to finally relax, Brighton being the perfect place to do so.

As soon as we arrived we headed for the pier as all tourists do and chose a ride to go on. I won't try and explain what the ride did because you will all be very confused but it was fun and spinny and the perfect start to our day.

The perfect day trip outfit:

Floaty fabric trousers-New Look

Black T-shirt-Topshop

Metallic slip on shoes-Bershka

Cropped Army style jacket-Topshop

Black leather rucksack-Vintage

Round Sunnies-Random shop in Italy

Earrings-Borrowed from my mum

After exploring the pier we headed to this cute and characterful cafè in the 'Lanes' for some lunch which was rather delicious. The lemonade was served in a milk bottle, which is basically pintrest in a drink.

Once lunch was finished we made our way to Beyond Retro which is possibly one of my favourite ever shops and had a look at what was there. I picked out a couple of things although ended up with a gorgeous summer halter neck for a really decent price too! I couldn't recommend Beyond Retro enough!

We soon made our way back to London, however I'm sure it won't be long before we are back again.

I hope you enjoyed reading this and watch out for a post up on summer style which I will be posting soon!

Love,
Isla
